Warm spell duration index (WSDI)
Warm spell duation index (WSDI): annual count of days with at least 6 consecutive days with a maximum temperature (TX) greater than the 90th percentile of the daily TX series for the base period 1981-2010. The unit of measurement is days.
The evolution of WSDI anomaly (AWSDI, difference between the annual value of WSDI and the mean value of WSDI in the reference period 1981-2010) during the period 1959-2020 is shown for the Pyrenees and for 4 areas of the Massif (Northern Pyrenees, Southern Pyrenees, Mediterranean Pyrenees and Atlantic Pyrenees); for each of the 12 series analyzed, the evolution of WSDI index is shown.
The annual mean of WSDI for the Pyrenees is obtained from the annual WSDI values of 12 representative series of the Pyrenees massif (areas at different altitudes and on all slopes: north, south, east or Mediterranean and west or Atlantic), while the mean value of WSDI for the 4 zones of the Massif is obtained from the annual WSDI values of the representative series located in each zone.
