Maximum 5-day precipitation (RX5day)
Maximum 5-day precipitation (RX5day): maximum annual value of accumulated precipitation in 5 consecutive days. The unit of measurement for RX5day is millimeters (mm, equivalent to liters per square meter) and for ARX5day (it is a relative anomaly) is percentage (%).
The evolution of RX5day anomaly (ARX5day, calculated as the quotient of the difference between the annual value of RX5day and the mean value of RX5day in the reference period 1981-2010 divided by this mean value of the reference period) during the period 1959-2020 is shown for the Pyrenees and for 4 areas of the Massif (Northern Pyrenees, Southern Pyrenees, Mediterranean Pyrenees and Atlantic Pyrenees); for each of the 26 series analyzed, the evolution of RX5day index is shown.
The annual mean of RX5day for the Pyrenees is obtained from the annual RX5day values of 26 representative series of the Pyrenees massif (areas at different altitudes and on all slopes: north, south, east or Mediterranean and west or Atlantic), while the mean value of RX5day for the 4 zones of the Massif is obtained from the annual RX5day values of the representative series located in each zone.
