Annual precipitation (PPT)

It is defined as the sum of daily precipitation (PPT) during one year.

The evolution of PPT anomaly (APPT, calculated as the quotient of the difference between the annual value of PPT and the mean value of PPT in the reference period 1981-2010 divided by this mean value of the reference period) during the period 1959-2020 is shown for the Pyrenees, for 4 areas of the Massif (Northern Pyrenees, Southern Pyrenees, Mediterranean Pyrenees and Atlantic Pyrenees) and for each of the 26 PPT series analyzed. The unit of measurement for PPT is millimeters (mm, equivalent to liters per square meter) and for APPT (it is a relative anomaly) is percentage (%).

The annual mean of  PPT for the Pyrenees is obtained from the annual PPT values ​​of 26 representative series of the Pyrenees massif (areas at different altitudes and on all slopes: north, south, east or Mediterranean and west or Atlantic), while the mean value of PPT for the 4 zones of the Massif is obtained from the annual PPT values ​​of the representative series located in each zone.
