Sprouting of European beech (Fagus sylvatica)
The indicator is the number of the week of the year in which the bud sprouting of the European beech (Fagus sylvatica) is observed.
It is calculated from 19 plots of 36 trees each, that is, 684 individuals (the location of the plots is shown on the map; it is recommended to enlarge the map for greater detail). In each plot, the number of the week of the year in which 90% of the trees have already sprouted is obtained; the mean value for the Pyrenees is obtained from the value obtained in the 19 plots studied. Phenological observations of the beech began in 2013 in 11 plots (all of them on the northern slope of the Massif) and, since 2017, 19 plots distributed throughout the Pyrenees have already been analyzed.
The evolution of the indicator for the period 2013-2019 is shown (solid line). The shaded area around the solid line indicates the confidence interval that may vary each year.
